      What should I look for in a Google Ads agency?
      First and foremost check reviews. If they have helped other companies then that’s a great start. Then of course you want experienced Google Ads marketers who communicate well about the campaign. What we mean by this is discussing keywords, business focuses and desired conversions to name a few elements. Then you want clear reporting and transparency on work completed. Full guide here
      What SEO tactics actually work? +
      To start with, a website that helps the visitor. Then there is the technical SEO to ensure that the Google crawlers also like it and reward it. And the hardest part of all are the quality backlinks which tell Google that you have website ‘friends in high places’.
      Why Search Rescue vs a larger agency? +
      In big agencies, the swish sales team sell you the dream and then once you’ve signed you deal with Kevin…. Kevin wasn’t in the sales meeting, doesn’t know what was promised and has to try and deliver on all the promises from that sales person who needed to make target for that quarter. The people that sell you in run your campaigns and deal with you week to week. No offence Kevin, not your fault.
      is it still worth investing in developing a good website when 50% less website traffic by 2028 is expected?
      Developing a good website is actually now even more important than ever. Even though people may read this content in an AI overview, that content had to be scraped from somewhere i.e. your website. A big recommendation we're giving our clients is to make their website extremely content heavy such that the AI bots can come through, find the answers to questions and then serve those in the AI results. If you have no website or a content thin website, you have a much lower chance of being served in AI.
      If I never previously had a website, how would you be able to maximize your search without historical data? +
      Without historical data you would need to use tools like the Google keywords planner, SEMRush, AHRefs, SERankings.com etc to find data about your product or service. It is obviously preferable to have historical data about how the web interacts with your exact website. However these tools mentioned will give a great deal of detail about your industry thus giving you the ability to write content about that and become the subject matter expert.
      What if your business is a consultancy and a lot of information that's provided online is behind a paywall? How do you write content for AIO whilst maintaining a profitable business? +
      In this case, you would need to get that content in front of the paywall. Therefore, you would probably need to have two iterations of the website. A paywall will render those pages not indexable due to the robots TXT file Thus they cannot be read or scraped for AI tools.
      For content, would it work to have AI generate ideas and text but rephrase - does that get recognised better in SEOs? +
      Yes it is a great idea for AI to suggest content for you. Then in terms of creating a content ideally it is genuine, human written content however a hybrid of human and AI written content is a very realistic way to get a lot of useful, quality content out there
      Maintaining several hundreds of website pages seems untenable! Can you get the same visibility through FAQs, case studies or blogs ensuring that the website is updated weekly? +
      Absolutely, things like FAQs and other content chunks are a great way to update your pages with more content. These content chunks are also extremely AI friendly.
      How do you check/validate that whatever change you did worked? +
      Validating the data would involve checking results on the page that was altered. For example you could use Google search console to see if that page has had more impressions and clicks. You could also look at the rankings of keywords associated with those pages to see if there was an uplift. Make sure you leave 4 to 8 weeks to understand the real impact of the changes. It does take awhile for these large language models and also search engines to recognise and reward these improvements.
      Can some of that subject matter expert info be presented through social media content? Does that get picked up by the Ai or is it better on my website? +
      Social media content is not strictly speaking on your site therefore it will not be the first place. The AI tools are looking for content about you. Therefore, it does have benefit but less so than putting that same content on your own website
      When you build out your website with content, how to do prevent it from being too complex, too overwhelming too busy +
      This is a great question. In this day and age having detailed content on your products and services is a great benefit to you for AI mentions, links and clicks. And make sure that content is in a logical hierarchy in your menu. The only exception of lots of content would be if the content is not useful. I recommend to get as much content onto the website without compromising on content or the user experience.
      We use WIX to host our website, are we still able to implement schema for AIO? +
      Yes, Wix permits and supports the addition of custom schema markup [a.k.a. structured data] to your website.
      How do I get metrics on my AIO performance? +
      Metrics can be found in Google analytics, Google search console and SEO tools like SEMRush, AHRefs, SERanking.com etc
      When talking about the "Mentions" metric, is that mentions by AI or by people on social media? Or both? +
      Mentions are specifically when your friend is listed in the overviews of the AI tools like ChatGPT etc. Mentions and link presence are the new metrics to calculate how your brand is found in AI results.
      What is the best website CMS for AIO. e.g. Wordpress, Wix etc. +
      There is no ultimate website CMS which helps more for AIO. Most website builders will have similar functionality in terms of technical, content and backlink items. Having said that, WordPress and Shopify seem to have the most community support meaning you can get more things done and added easier.
      Do Blogs work as well as FAQs in terms of visibility +
      Generally speaking blogs do not work as well as FAQs because blogs are not generally created as answers to questions. People are using these AI tools for the most part to ask questions. Therefore having direct answers to these really help the chances of your content being served.
      Can you tell which content lead to generating revenue vs increasing visibility (impressions vs conversions) +
      The website page URL where that content resides can easily be monitored in terms of leads or eComm revenue. That data can be found in Google Analytics or the website CMS. It is however more difficult to correlate the AI prompt to the conversion. Analytics and CMSs do not show which AI query drove a conversion yet. We would expect this to be rolled out in the coming months / year.
      Is the pages with content, (not clickable aka. hidden from clients) still searchable for AI and useful? +
      If the content is accessible in HTML and not blocked by robots.txt or noindex tags, then it can still be indexed and used by AI tools. However, hiding content purely from users while keeping it for AI is not recommended as it may impact trust and UX.
      How does AI manage PDFs on websites? We prioritize HTML content but our SMEs love PDFs +
      The large language models can read PDFs on your website but plain HTML text is easier and faster for it to read. Therefore, if the content is important get that into regular HTML code for the greatest chance of that content being index by AI tools.
      As a brand designer when working on websites for my clients would it be more important now for them to focus on AIO/AEO over SEO? +
      Not necessarily. The fundamentals of SEO will still have a large positive effect on AIO. Having said that you should ensure that your clients have a plan in terms of what kind of content people are looking for and then have a large road map on responding to that.

      Does AI draw from social media content or does it specifically need to be website content heavy? +
      Hey I will draw from website content and social media however it will prioritise website content is the primary source of information about a business. Social media content will play a secondary role in terms of information, reputation, recency etc.
      Can the schema code be added into a social media account +
      No, schema code cannot be added into a social media account because website websites like Facebook and Instagram do not allow external parties to alter the backend of their website properties - even if it is your Facebook page for example
      Should I create content pages or make more blog pages? Or doesn’t it matter which? +
      We would recommend prioritising content pages. However periodic blocks will also help especially in terms of recency. If a website is seem to be have altered recently than the AI tools and search engines will understand that this website is more active than say a website which has not been touched in a year. There will be a reward in terms of mentions in AI for this and in terms of rankings in Google for this.
      What about using video to add content to your website to improve findability ie. youtube +
      Video content is a great way to share large sways of information about your product or service. Just make sure that transcriptions are turned on such that the AI tools can find the wording that you've spoken about. Transcriptions will surface as HTML text which is the ideal format for large language models to grab data. Video content however is harder for them to scrape.
      When writing website content for a client, do you consider the SEO/AIO key words from the get go? +
      When writing website content for a client we first of all look at various tools to understand what kind of demand there is for the various topics. From there we will prioritise high volume queries which are also related to priority products or services for the client. That will create a roadmap on the content which will provide the greatest benefit to the end client.
      What challenges do you see for a business that has products that people can buy from lots of vendors? +
      If you're selling the same products being sold by other vendors than you need to find a way to stand out. Their a number of ways to build out the content such that your website page is preferable for the AI tools to search. For example elements like reviews, product information, FAQs, photos, videos, meet the team, awards one, fact sheets, tables, etc. The more detailed the product page is the higher the chances that your product will be mentioned in the AI overview answers.

      I have direct experience with this company's services. Based on that experience, I understand that they are using bots to spam website contact forms with unsolicited material, which in my view is spam. Based on these extremely unethical activities I would not recommend engaging this company.
